What is the structure of the safety case evolution?
The structure of the safety case development for Wylfa Newydd Power Station is defined in future work. The Safety Case evolves through the lifecycle phases, with details discussed in Sections 3.8 onwards. These Safety Case submissions and significant interim evolutions, such as site justification and LLIs, are highlighted.
Are base stations harmful?
This holds true whether the base station is part of a 2G (GSM), a 3G, a 4G (LTE) or a 5G network. The WHO states: “From all evidence accumulated so far, no adverse short- or long-term health effects have been shown to occur from the RF signals produced by base stations.” (WHO fact sheet “Base stations and wireless technologies”)
How are safety cases structured?
Safety Cases can be structured to accommodate system variations by creating a single report with variant-specific appendices or compatibility matrices. Projects may occasionally need to progress with certain “caveats” or limitations due to incomplete safety information.
How should a design and safety case be developed?
Development of the design and safety case should be an integrated and iterative process, ensuring that lessons are learned and applied before going forward to the next stage. For new projects, documents should be completed in step with the design.
Do all safety case stages require a preliminary Safety Report (PSR)?
The stages listed result from significant steps in facility definition, though a particular facility or operation may not require all safety case stages. This is particularly so for the Early Design stage, which may not require a Preliminary Safety Report (PSR), for example for projects with short time scales or of an established design.
